The Hanger Free House: The Ultimate Dining Experience in Oakhanger

The best roast dinner around. We love coming here, the art work in the restaurant really adds to the ambience and is always a conversation starter. We've never had a bad meal at The Hanger, everything we've tried has been delicious and the service is great

Called in at The Hanger while walking in the area and looking for somewhere to stop in with our dogs Immediately upon arriving we were made to feel welcomed, reassured that our dogs (although a little mucky) were welcome, and shown to a seat in the bar area. Our drink orders were taken immediately and food menus supplied. The waitress was the perfect balance of attentive without being overbearing and seemed to know the menu very well, offering her recommendations when we were unsure. The food was absolutely incredible, both myself and my Mum had the soup of the day (nettle and potato) and I'd be hard pressed to think of a soup I've had out that's nicer. I then had the spectacular steak and ale pie, and chocolate mousse for dessert. Definitely worth calling in on the way past, and we will be coming again (even if it means travelling to do so)

The hanger freehouse is always brilliant when we go there for lunch and or dinner. The staff are always incredibly professional and kind. A Massive hat tip to their chef for his amazing menu and the food is always cooked to perfection.

Would absolutely recommend the Hanger for Sunday lunch. I had the beef and it was genuinely the best roast dinner I’ve ever had. My partner had the roast chicken and mum had the pork which were both also incredible. Definitely recommend the cauliflower cheese, probably worth getting a portion per person, I could’ve eaten my body weight in the stuff. The atmosphere was lovely, we booked for 1pm and it was a little quiet but still really nice. By the time we left the car park was full so probably worth booking earlier as I don’t know the area well but couldn’t see many other options parking wise when the car park was full.

Previous visits were disappointing, but we thought we'd give it another go as it's under new ownership. Not disappointed the food and service were excellent. Really interesting and innovative menu, beautifully cooked. We'll definitely be back soon.

Beautiful, friendly, delicious! That was a perfect choice! First of all, I did not expect such elegant, clean and cosy interior in a country restaurant. Secondly, quick and nice service. And then, the food! Best burgers, excellent fish and chips and tasty dessert. Definitely worth visiting!

Great! Requested a last min booking with a few mates. A really warm welcome of “Hello’s” and smiling faces from all the staff and shown to our table. We ordered a mix of foods from the menu. Crab rarebit, Roast pork & chicken, venison sausage, scotch egg to name a few. All were brilliant. All our mains came at the same time at the right temperature. The portions are huge! A mix of happy people and dogs in the bar area. An enjoyable atmosphere. Highly recommend visiting.

Update 23/10/21: We finally had dinner here! It was really excellent and good portion sizes. It's worth explicitly mentioning, the chef cooked the eggs exceptionally well (on the table we seemed to order a lot of egg) service was also 10/10! ****** Been here a few times since its been open and haven't been disappointed! There's now plenty of nice garden space to relax in and the inside is renovated tastefully. Food was good and so was the service ! Would highly recommend a visit!
